Pleasse HELP with Continental marks
Good morning. I have a silver parasol handle that I recently purchased. I found these hallmarks on the bottom edge. I don't know where the parasol handle originates. The individual I purchased it from said it belonged to his grandmother, who lived most of her life in France. But, I doubt these are ...

Re: Asparagus Server? What?
Hi, It all depends on the size of this piece. An asparagus server will be large in size, anywhere from 8" to 10" long with a wide blade to scoop up a portion of horizontally placed asparagus. If this piece is closer to 4" to 6" with a smaller blade, than it is for foie gras and would have been part ...

Re: Help with pattern identification
Hi, Most American silversmiths have catalogs of patterns, and it is fairly easy to expand on a collection by searching for the maker and pattern number or name. The French silversmiths didn't have patterns, per se. Rather, their wares were custom ordered and based on various sketches and models. You ...

Re: Emile Puriforcat Sterling (What is it?)
Hi, This is an asparagus server. There were many types of servers designed specifically for asparagus and it all depended on the type of plating one used on the table. There were long handled tongs, grippers such as this one, smaller tongs used for single servings, and a large curved blade with a ...

Need help Identifying French Silversmith Mark
Hello,
I would greatly appreciate some help in identifying this French silversmith mark. I can't seem to make out the symbol in the center, but it appears as though the silversmith's initials are L.G? Thank you!

Re: Austrian? Hallmark on Gold Brooch
Thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate the information. I purchased this brooch as 14k vintage, so I am glad to know that it dates to the 20's era. Thank you again!

Austrian? Hallmark on Gold Brooch
Hi, I purchased this gold brooch but would really like to know what the hallmarks are on the reverse? I know the 585 is European for 14k, but I cannot identify the rest. I photographed the hallmark twice, rotated one of the images to that all the marks are readable and there is also a tiny hallmark ...

French silversmith's mark, need help identifying.
Hello all. I found this French .950 silver tumbler hallmarked with a Minerve 1titre mark. But I cannot identify the silversmith (orfèvre). The small lozenge shaped mark portrays an animal in the center, perhaps a wolf or a lamb, I cannot tell. Together with two letters with the letter F being at ...
