Anybody got any idea???

This are the clearest pictures of the marks I can get on the outside lower rim of this (what appears to be a ) wine coaster. Your help and expertise is certainly appreciated...as usual! I KNOW I can count on one of you.....Thanks! http://s1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd478/TomVentnor/Champagne%20Coas...

Re: A REAL Puzzle: Are these German Hanau marks, maybe??

Hi Oel, As usual, you have given me some valuable information. I am not sure how I missed them except they weren't as evident until you steered me in the right direction. I found what I believe are two of the three marks. Not sure about the third one, but I will keep looking. I did some google searc...

A REAL Puzzle: Are these German Hanau marks, maybe??

OK, now here is a challenge: I have looked over the Hanau marks that I can find on this site and others and maybe I have missed them, but I don't see any that resemble the ones on this major tea strainer and stand. Perhaps they are not Hanau at all and belong to another country. I SURE would like to...

Re: Another unknown but INTERESTING mark...HELP!!!

WOW! Thank you SOO much Jay. I am so pleased to get your information. It suddenly becomes so very clear in light of the facts that you present. Now that I look at the last mark again, I can see that it is, indeed, a hare rather than a ram. This little strainer has become one of my favorites in a mat...

Thank you, Oel! I will continue to look at the piece but I do not think there is any other mark. Tom

Re: Another unknown but INTERESTING mark...HELP!!!

AG2012 and oel,

Thanks for your immediate reply to my latest posting. Do either of you have a feel that this piece is sterling or plate based on the two marks that I have found?

Re: Another unknown but INTERESTING mark...HELP!!!

Well...I FINALLY was able to find another mark on the tea basket...quietly nestled just under the rim in a very obscure location...so tiny, it is hadly perceptable to the naked eye...or clothed one, either, for that matter!! I used a very stong macro lens and enhanced it with photoshop to get a clea...

RARE marks or imperfections???

OK...here is one for you! My wife was left this small ornate and beautiful small silver tray by an older friend upon her death (so there is not a possiblilty of any history of it). I have looked it over for marks because I am sure it is of some quality. There is nothing on the back of the tray and t...

Is it possible to get a closer look at each individual mark? It is difficult to determine anything without being able to see a closer view. Thanks! Tom

Srangely familiar...but no cigar...can YOU help, please??

I thought I knew this mark, but when I started looking, I saw several that were similar, but none that I thought was the ONE! Hopefully one of you can help me. I just bought this baby to add to the tea sreainer collection and want it to have an identity. Any insight will be GREATLY appreciated! Tom ...

Hard one to identify...Can YOU???

This are the marks on an unidentified tea ball in the shape of a volcano...very unusual...both in the fabrication and in the marks. Unfortunately the mark are very hard to photograph, so I am not entirely sure that they can be identified, but go for it! I will REALLY appreciate your opinion.... Than...

Relationship between Gorham Mfg. Co. and Currier & Roby

I have a tea strainer that has markings of both Gorham Mfg. Co. and Currier & Roby. I have another one with markings of both Gorham Mfg. Co. and Lebkuecher & Co. Both are pictured below. Does anyone know the relationship between Gorham Mfg. Co and other silver companies and why there are mar...

Re: Another unknown but INTERESTING mark...HELP!!!

Thank you, Zilver2 and Hose_dk! I have looked this piece over several times, but I will look again. I have not been able to find any other marks so far, but, as you say, they may be well-hidden. When (and if) I do find more, I will let you know. In the mean time, thanks for confirming what I felt al...

Another unknown but INTERESTING mark...HELP!!!

Boy, do I need your help on this one. I bought this spout tea strainer on eBay and the seller said that he thought it was English and bore the mark of Elizabeth Tuite C. 1741. It is a VERY tiny mark, which I believe to be French, although there is no Minerva head, so I can't be sure. It polishes lik...
