Help for hallmarks

Hello, I present to you today solid silver cutlery from France, 18th century. https://i.imgur.com/ejHCK9p.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pyOmt0A.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pOTZLJM.jpg I don't know much about 18th century punches, but in theory I should at least find on the handle of each place setting: a char...

Re: Iranian silver set

Hello AG2012, and thank you for this valuable information! I missed this subject, which is very rich in information both general concerning Iranian silver securities (like many I started with an interpretation of 84 as equivalent to 84 Russian zolotnik) but also about my wine service. I will see to ...

Re: An interesting cigarette case

Hello MG money and thank you for your contribution. Concerning the von Bülow family, I was thinking of Karl because of his function in the Prussian army and in relation to his aesthetic a little more "fat" than Bernhardt. Besides, the "Delenda est Roma" made me think more of a so...

An interesting cigarette case

Hello everyone! I present to you a Birmingham English sterling silver cigarette case. https://i.imgur.com/jGkGBuP.jpg According to the hallmarks, it is dated 1912. The silversmith seems to be Charles Edwin Turner (C.E.T). The last letter T is almost erased but I can make out the tip. https://i.imgur...

Re: Where does it come from?

Hi AG,

I had a doubt for the brand 84 but neither the goldsmith's hallmark nor the one including the 84 made me think of a French silver plate hallmark.

Thank you for this track!

Where does it come from?

Hello everybody! Here is a teapot whose style reminds me of British but nothing sure ... https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/LzpVUR.png Looking at the hallmark (8, cat's head / lyon, 4), I don't get better ... Anyone have an idea? https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/ebtn4h.jpg Thank ...

Re: What is it for?

Thank you for those precisions! We can link the period indicated by Ubaranda (1960-1970) with the method describes by Dognose (as electrospark process seems to start in 1954)!

A great example of social/historical approach combinated to a technical approach!

Well done!

Re: What is it for?

Thank you for the answer as well as the excellent illustration! We could not find better! I suspected it was a tea strainer but I found it quite original so I was not sure! One more thing Ubaranda as you're also owner of the same object: what would be the period? Soviet hallmark means after 1958, bu...

What is it for?

Hello everyone, today I propose a Soviet object (after 1958) in silver 875, Moscow. My problem is? what is this object for? The ball above rests on 2 rods roughly welded on each side. To note, it includes a punch 875 which does not seem Soviet ... I think that the rods and the ball were added a post...

Re: Unusual mark

My opinion is AG2012 already gives you the good answer. The bigorne is the Scarabéa. But as said by Traintime, if a doubt is still remaining, please just confim that this ''special'' mark is exactly positionned on the other side on the Minerva and the matter will be solved...
