Re: Sugar bowl, Moscow, 1844

Yes there are some “ГШ" punches with or without dots. In addition the year 1852 is an approximate year often seen. The real period could be before or after or...? One should be careful with it and t check with other sources too.

Re: Sugar bowl, Moscow, 1844

Aaaaa it looks like a new Soviet mark from 1992. A barrel shielded right looking kokoshnik. Probably a remarking to enable a later selling in Soviet, or ??? Any ideas?

Re: Sugar bowl, Moscow, 1844

It could be Heinrich Steinschoporn in Moscow, but I'm not sure. He was active in Moscow around 1852, but???
Mind my asking, but what is the mark above above St. George ??? Looks like an upside down 875 and?

@ mtalos13

Please note!
Your spoons are not sterling fineness (925/1000) but 830/1000.

Re: Tea pot, St.Petersburg, 1827

Hi Juke, There was a to name unknown master punching MФ in a square frame in St. Petersburg 1816-1831. The punch's letter Ф is not exactly the same font, but maybe he had several punches, who knows? He is known to have made table utensils like creamers, teapots, ladles etc. Is it him or not I cannot...

Re: Please help me identify the master?

Nice doing Mart, but you could have showed this source in the first place, thank you. The maker is now pretty obviously Hermann Bank like you mentioned earlier. The mark must be Hermann's newest/latest mark. Unfortunately I don't have Leistikow available for the moment. This case is verified to all ...

Re: Please help me identify the master?

@Nata37
The crest on the stem belongs most likely to Berens von Rautenfeld in Latvia.

Re: Please help me identify the master?

@Mart Even more interesting "...presumably...."? What you wrote was only : "НВ", Hermann Bank. A rather absolute statement. Yes, masters could have used several different punches for several reasons. Anyway, I cannot find anything indicating that this conjoined mark (HB or HK mar...

Re: Please help me identify the master?

@Mart Interesting. Would you mind explain a bit more. To my understanding Hermann Bank's punch was HBANK RIGA. He also used a HB mark. He was born in Königsberg 31.5.1857, became master 20.1.1895 and died 1927. When was this mark used??? Moreover, are you sure it is HB and not something else like HK...

Re: Skandinavian (?) beaker I.

#Aguest Would you kindly show me one single known crowned Danish hallmark or maker's mark that resembles the showed one, thank you. Not either found in Sweden or Norway. There are undeniably a few crowned marks in the mentioned countries, but as said none that matches these. Neither in Finland that ...

Scandinavian hallmarks #Aguest Interesting marks but mind my asking what makes you think on Scandinavian marks??? I have difficulties in finding anything Scandinavian in these marks, so? Anyway, I tried to find something but with poor result i.e nothing, not even close. #Krisztián Sorry, no ideas....

Re: Fraget candlestick

#huszas76 This is a very strange marking. In my rather large library I cannot find these marks. Moreover, the whole "row of marks" is insufficient. Here a few thoughts: The Russian fineness mark has a round shield, the figures' font is odd, who is the assayer, the spelling of "Warszaw...

Re: Sugar box, Moscow, 1783

@Juke,
Take a look at P#2585 on p. 218. Serif fonts were more often used in the past than sans serif. More unclear is the "C" in Belkin's punch, but?

Re: Sugar box, Moscow, 1783

A bit difficult case, anyway, in my eyes the maker is I·Ө. That would be Ivan Frolov. The alderman AӨП is Fyodor Petrov 1759-1784 as Juke also anticipates. The (unclear) assayer's mark looks much like С·Б, could be Stepan Belkin 1778-1788. The Moscow town mark shows 1783. It matches the other marks.

Re: Can anyone help identify silver sugar bowl 1895

Thank you. Some more information. Jòzef Fraget was born 25.4.1797 and died 16.7.1867. His successor was his son Julian Mikolaj Fraget born 2.6.1841 dead 1906. The above stated means that the punch J.F. in this case (1895) is most likely Julian Fraget but not Jòzef. Anyway, the Fraget company, founde...

Re: Can anyone help identify the workshop and years of operation?

Since the guardein CFH is Christian F. Heise 1904-32, the maker must have been active during that period. The Copenhagen townmark verifies 1923, so... Unfortunately the workshop's mark is unknown to me.
